Michigan HB5373 amends the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act to include price caps on bottled water at mass entertainment venues. Starting January 1, 2027, venues cannot charge more than $2.00 for water with a capacity of 16 ounces or less, $2.50 for water between 16.01 and 19.99 ounces, $3.00 for water between 20 and 23.99 ounces, and $4.00 for water 24 ounces or more. The attorney general will adjust these rates every five years based on the Detroit Consumer Price Index. Violations are subject to civil fines up to 10% of the total ticket sales from the event.
