Introduced Text

Michigan HB5321 establishes a database of restricted zones for unmanned vehicles and mandates penalties for violations.

Michigan HB5321, known as the "state geofencing act," creates a state geofencing database of restricted zones where unmanned vehicles cannot be operated. The database, to be made publicly accessible, must be compatible with unmanned vehicle geofencing hardware and software. The state transportation department will determine these restricted zones, which may include state-owned property, critical infrastructure, and key facilities.
