Michigan HB5311 removes penalties for refusing to give information to a school census enumerator.

Michigan HB5311 amends the revised school code by eliminating penalties for parents or guardians who refuse to provide information to a school census enumerator. It repeals the previous law that allowed for the unenrollment of a child if false information was provided about the child's name, age, or residency. The bill also adds a new section that allows a child to enroll in a nonresident district only through an interdistrict choice, cooperative agreement, or program if false information was intentionally provided.
