HB5308

Watercraft: registration; invasive species prevention and remediation watercraft decals; provide for. Amends sec. 80124a of 1994 PA 451 (MCL 324.80124a).

Chamber Passed·4/29/26

Michigan HB5308 amends watercraft registration to require invasive species prevention decals on watercraft.

Michigan HB5308 amends the state's watercraft registration laws by requiring the Secretary of State to make available an annual Great Lakes protection specialty watercraft decal. These decals, priced at $35.00, must depict aspects of the Great Lakes or water quality. The Secretary of State can establish the placement of these decals to avoid confusion with other required decals. Sales of these decals will cease if the Secretary of State fails to sell at least 2,000 decals in a two-year period or 500 decals annually thereafter.
