Michigan HB5164 modifies existing law to prohibit the transport or possession of firearms and pneumatic guns in vehicles unless they are unloaded and secured. Specifically, it bans carrying firearms (excluding pistols) and pneumatic guns that expel metallic BBs or pellets greater than.177 caliber in vehicles unless they meet certain conditions: being taken down, enclosed in a case, carried in the trunk, or inaccessible from the vehicle's interior. Violation of these provisions is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 90 days in jail, a fine of up to $100, or both.
