This bill amends the Michigan building code to allow interior designers who prepare interior technical submissions in the practice of interior design to submit applications for building permits. Previously, only owners, builders, architects, engineers, or licensed contractors could submit such applications. The bill specifies that these interior designers must be licensed or required to be licensed under the occupational code. The changes will take effect only if a related bill, HB 5142, is enacted into law.
