Introduced Text

Modifies Michigan sales tax to exempt sales of investment coins and bullion.

This bill amends Michigan's sales tax law to exempt sales of investment coins and bullion from taxation. Investment coins include numismatic coins made of precious metals with a fair market value greater than their face value. Bullion refers to gold, silver, or platinum in bulk form, with a purity of at least 900 parts per 1,000. Starting January 1, 2026, bullion also includes gold, silver, or platinum in leaf, foil, or film form with a metallic content of 50% or more. This change takes effect only if both House Bill No. 5130 and House Bill No. 5129 are enacted into law.
