Michigan HB5076 amends the state's mortuary science act to require written consent for embalming.

Michigan HB5076 amends sections 1805 and 1810 of the mortuary science act. It mandates that individuals licensed to practice mortuary science must obtain prior written consent from the next of kin or other legally authorized person before embalming a deceased individual. The consent form must include a statement that participation in a donation program will not prevent funeral business and a signature from the next of kin or other legally authorized person.
