Michigan HB5044 amends the Michigan Compiled Laws to require school districts and public school academies to develop and adopt policies for students needing medically necessary treatment. These policies must allow students with a prescription or recommendation from a private health care specialist to receive the treatment when approved. The policy must be publicly available and include processes for addressing requests and appeals. The Michigan Department of Education must compile and report data on these requests annually.
