Introduced Text

Amends Michigan law to require DNA samples from youth found responsible for certain crimes.

The bill modifies the Youth Rehabilitation Services Act to mandate DNA samples from public wards found responsible for specific crimes, including prostitution-related offenses. The samples must be collected by the youth agency and sent to the Department of State Police. The bill also specifies conditions under which the samples can be disclosed and sets a $60 assessment for those found responsible for the listed crimes. This amendment does not require a hearing or court order for sample collection.
