Michigan HB4994 regulates tenant fees and rental agreement provisions to protect tenants.

Michigan HB4994 amends the landlord-tenant law to restrict certain provisions in rental agreements. It prohibits agreements from waiving tenant remedies for unfit living conditions, altering rights established by law, or releasing parties from duties to mitigate damages. The bill also limits landlord fees to those reasonably related to actual costs or services provided. Any clause violating these provisions is void.
