Michigan HB4984 amends civil procedure to seal court records of evictions after two years unless specific conditions are met.

Michigan HB4984 amends the Michigan Court Rules to seal court records of evictions after two years unless the judgment was based on illegal controlled substance activity, a serious health hazard, causing physical injury, or taking possession by force or trespass. In such cases, records remain public for three years. The court may release records for scholarly, educational, journalistic, or governmental purposes if the tenant's name and other personal information are not disclosed.
