Michigan HB4781 increases penalties and back wages for violations of the Whistleblowers' Protection Act.

Michigan HB4781 amends the Whistleblowers' Protection Act to increase civil fines for violations from $500 to $2,000. The act also allows courts to award complainants costs of litigation, including attorney fees, if deemed appropriate. Additionally, courts can order reinstatement of employment, payment of back wages, restoration of fringe benefits and seniority rights, and actual damages.
