Michigan HB4767 establishes a statewide microplastics research and monitoring plan to assess and address microplastics in the Great Lakes.

Michigan HB4767 amends the Michigan Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to establish a statewide microplastics research and monitoring plan. The plan, developed by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, will assess the occurrence and impact of microplastics on human and animal health, the Great Lakes, and drinking water. It will include strategies for identifying and evaluating ecological, health, and economic impacts, methods for sampling and detecting microplastics, and solutions for controlling microplastic introduction.
