Introduced Text

Michigan HB4735 establishes a quarterly weight-distance fee for heavy vehicles and outlines penalties for non-compliance.

Michigan HB4735 amends the state's transportation laws by introducing a quarterly weight-distance fee of $0.0285 per mile for vehicles weighing 59,999 pounds or more. Operators, owners, or owner-operators must report the miles driven and pay the fee. A 10-day unlimited-mile pass is available for a $40 fee, exempting the vehicle from reporting and fees during that period. Failure to report or pay the fee results in fines, with additional penalties for intentional misrepresentation or late payments. The fines accrue interest at the adjusted prime rate.
