Introduced Text

Michigan HB4684 requires health insurers to develop and implement a pain management access plan.

Michigan HB4684 amends the Michigan Insurance Code to mandate that health insurers offering policies in the state create a plan for adequate coverage and access to a range of pain management services. This includes nonopioid, nonnarcotic medications and nonmedication services that serve as alternatives to opioid or narcotic drugs. Insurers must file this plan with the Michigan Department of Insurance for approval, which will review the plan's adequacy and ensure it does not unduly favor opioid coverage.
