Introduced Text

Allows crime victims to receive notices via modern communication technology.

This bill amends the Michigan Compiled Laws to allow courts, the Department of Corrections, the Department of Health and Human Services, law enforcement agencies, county sheriffs, and prosecuting attorneys to provide crime victims with qualifying notices through modern communication technology. This applies if the victim has provided their telephone number, email address, or other required information. The bill ensures that these notices are provided under the Crime Victim Communication Modernization Act, and victims can opt-out of receiving such notices if they prefer.
