Chamber Passed·3/11/26

Michigan HB4584 amends election laws to limit school millage elections to November.

Michigan HB4584 amends sections of the 1954 PA 116 to restrict school district millage elections to November. The bill mandates that special elections called by school districts for millage increases or loans must be held on a Tuesday and cannot occur within 30 days before or 35 days after a regular election date. It also limits the number of special elections a school district can call to one per calendar year. The secretary of state is directed to oversee the consolidation of all elections under this act. The bill is contingent on the enactment of House Bill No. 4583.
