Expands Michigan's assault laws to include assaults on health professionals and medical volunteers.

The bill amends Michigan's assault laws to include specific protections for health professionals and medical volunteers. It defines a health professional as someone providing direct patient care and requiring licensure, registration, certification, or other regulation. A medical volunteer is someone providing direct or indirect patient care as a volunteer. The bill imposes enhanced penalties for assaults on these individuals while they are performing their duties.
