Introduced Text

Michigan HB4461 requires the Secretary of State to review voter eligibility and cancel registrations of non-citizens.

Michigan HB4461 amends the Michigan election law to mandate the Secretary of State to review voter eligibility. If the Secretary receives a legal presence document from an individual indicating they are not a U.S. citizen and is currently registered to vote, the Secretary must compare the voter file information with the state's motor vehicle database, SAVE, or other relevant programs. If the individual fails to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or a written explanation within 60 days of notice, their voter registration is canceled.
