Michigan HB4389 amends hazardous waste disposal regulations to establish a fee for waste disposed of in class I multisource commercial hazardous.

Michigan HB4389 amends the Michigan Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to establish a fee for waste disposed of in class I multisource commercial hazardous waste disposal wells. The fee is based on the quantity of waste injected and is set at 0.417 cents per gallon. Owners or operators of these wells must pay the fee and submit fee revenue to the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. The state treasurer adjusts the fees annually based on the Consumer Price Index. Certain wastes are exempt from the fee, and the owner or operator must certify the exemption.
