Michigan HB4381 prohibits electric and natural gas utilities from donating to organizations engaging in campaign or lobbying activities.

Michigan HB4381 amends the Public Utilities Act to prohibit electric and natural gas utilities from making donations to certain organizations. These include 501(c)(4) organizations and 527 organizations controlled by state office candidates, elected state officials, former elected state officials, or appointed state officials. The bill also bans donations to state or local party committees and political committees. Utilities must attest to compliance in rate case applications and inform relevant personnel of the prohibition.
