Michigan HB4315 requires the Department of State Police and the Office of School Safety to develop and provide annual training on various safety topics to school resource officers, school safety personnel, and all school staff. Training topics include officer authority, legal authority of security personnel, threat assessments, target hardening, law enforcement response, confidential safety tip lines, emergency operations, incident command systems, communication skills, de-escalation tactics, physical controls, cultural competence, mandatory reporting, crisis intervention, and mental health.
