Michigan HB4227 amends the Michigan Compiled Laws to mandate that each intermediate school district must employ at least one emergency and safety manager and one mental health coordinator. The emergency and safety manager will serve as a liaison between various state agencies and local emergency management coordinators, coordinate professional learning opportunities, and oversee Medicaid billing and the Caring for Students program. They will also conduct risk assessments, compile data on behavioral health programs, and coordinate with local law enforcement.
