Introduced Text

Modifies Michigan's child custody act to clarify grandparenting and great grandparenting time provisions.

Michigan HB4216 amends section 7b of the child custody act of 1970, clarifying grandparenting and great grandparenting time. This change ensures that the rights and duties of natural progeny and adopted persons are equal after adoption. The bill also specifies that an adopted child is no longer an heir of a parent whose rights have been terminated. This amendment takes effect only if House Bill No. 4217 is enacted into law.
