Michigan HB4081 amends land division rules to allow counties and municipalities to increase the number of parcels resulting from a division. A parcel or tract created by an exempt split or division is not a new parent parcel and may be further partitioned without being subject to platting requirements if certain conditions are met. These include waiting at least 10 years since the parcel was recorded and ensuring one resulting parcel comprises at least 60% of the area. Parcels of 40 acres or more are not counted toward the permitted number of parcels if they are accessible.
