Michigan HB4069 revises the Michigan penal code to protect newborns surrendered under the safe delivery of newborns law.

Michigan HB4069 amends the Michigan penal code to protect newborns surrendered under the safe delivery of newborns law. It ensures that criminal investigations are not initiated solely based on a newborn being surrendered to an emergency service provider or a newborn safety device. This protection applies to mothers of newborns surrendered under the safe delivery of newborns law, but not to those who fail to comply with the born alive infant protection act. The amendment takes effect 90 days after enactment.
