Massachusetts S777 regulates hospital billing and licensure for secondary facilities.
Massachusetts S777 amends Chapter 111 of the General Laws to introduce regulations for hospital billing and licensure, particularly for secondary facilities. A secondary facility is defined as a location that is more than 500 yards from the primary facility or has separate utilities. These facilities must obtain a separate license and National Provider Identification Number from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Billing for services at secondary facilities must be negotiated separately from the primary facility or, if no agreement is reached, at 110% of Medicare rates.
