Massachusetts S711 mandates coverage for breast cancer diagnostic examinations and digital breast tomosynthesis screenings.
Massachusetts S711, known as the Act relative to breast cancer equity and early detection, requires health insurance policies, Medicaid contracts, and other health coverage agreements to include coverage for diagnostic examinations for breast cancer and digital breast tomosynthesis screenings. These examinations must be provided on a basis not less favorable than screening mammograms. The bill also prohibits increasing patient cost-sharing for these services. The provisions apply to all contracts entered into, renewed, or amended on or after January 1, 2025.
