The bill creates a drought management task force within the advisory committee to the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. The task force will coordinate and communicate among agencies and the public to maintain adequate water supplies. It will collect and assess technical information, facilitate drought preparedness and response, and make recommendations to the secretary, the secretary of public safety and security, and the governor. The task force will also update a statewide drought management plan every 10 years, which must be approved by the water resources commission.
