S.560

To facilitate climate resiliency

Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Facilitates climate resiliency by amending laws to allow general permits for nature-based, sustainably developed projects.

The bill amends Chapter 91 of the General Laws to allow the Department to issue general permits for publicly beneficial climate resiliency projects. These projects, designated by a conservation commission, selectmen, or mayor, must be nature-based and sustainably developed. The bill also modifies Chapter 131 to include climate resiliency protection projects in the scope of eligible projects. This change aims to support flood control and storm damage prevention without requiring mitigation for resource area loss.
