The bill re-establishes the Clean Environment Fund to support environmental initiatives. The fund will receive 40% of the monies collected from deposit amounts for abandoned beverage containers. The fund will be used for solid waste reduction, recycling, littering, and composting programs, sustainable material recovery initiatives, and recycling equipment and infrastructure improvements. The remaining funds will be used for improvements to state parks, state forest recreation areas, and state reservations, provided they meet LEEDS building standards.
