Massachusetts S47 amends Chapter 94 of the General Laws to prohibit food stores and food departments from using biometric data to suggest items or adjust prices. Biometric data includes measurements of biological characteristics, excluding photographs, recordings, and data derived from them. Stores may still use biometrics for voluntary identity verification at the point of sale. Violations of this provision are considered unfair or deceptive trade practices under Chapter 93A.
