Massachusetts S35 amends Chapter 7D of the General Laws to prohibit state agencies, local government entities, and municipalities from paying or communicating with entities that demand ransom after a cybersecurity incident. Any state agency or local government that receives a ransom demand must report to and consult with the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
