Massachusetts S3180 allows the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance to grant easements to NSTAR Electric Company d/b/a Eversource Energy for electric infrastructure maintenance. In return, NSTAR must release or modify existing easements for the Commonwealth's benefit. The easements are for clearing, constructing, maintaining, and operating electric transmission and distribution lines and equipment. The Commonwealth may accept land in Wendell as compensation, ensuring no net loss of protected lands. NSTAR is responsible for appraisal and other costs related to the easements.
