This bill sets residency requirements for candidates and officeholders in Brockton's mayor, city councilor, and school committee positions. Candidates for mayor or councilor-at-large must reside in Brockton for at least one year before the election. Similarly, candidates for ward councilor or school committee must reside in the specific ward for a year before the election. If an officeholder ceases to reside in Brockton or their respective ward, they will be removed from office and the position declared vacant. The act takes effect upon passage.
