Introduced·3/31/25
Introduced Text

Establishes credible service for eligible police officers and firefighters in Massachusetts who were bypassed on a civil service hiring list.

The bill amends the General Laws to establish credible service for eligible police officers and firefighters who were bypassed on a civil service hiring list. Eligible members must have been on the list, bypassed for someone with a lower rank, granted relief by the Civil Service Commission, and accepted the first available permanent appointment. They must also contribute to the retirement system at the rate they would have earned during the credible service period.
