Massachusetts S270 establishes funds for school districts with increased English language learners.
Massachusetts S270 amends Chapter 71A of the General Laws to create a fund for school districts with at least a 20-student increase in English language learners. Eligible districts receive additional cost reimbursements from the Commonwealth, calculated based on the difference between the number of English learners in the prior and current fiscal years. These reimbursements are in addition to any other federal or state grants and are disbursed by the state treasurer at the direction of the commissioner of the board of education.
