S.2636

Establishing the cosmetology licensure compact

Introduced·2/27/25
Introduced Text

Establishes the Cosmetology Licensure Compact to facilitate interstate practice and regulation of cosmetology.

The Cosmetology Licensure Compact aims to improve public access to cosmetology services and reduce licensure burdens. It establishes a multistate licensing program allowing licensed cosmetologists to practice across member states. The Compact creates a commission to oversee the program, including administering a database of licensee information. Member states retain authority over educational and professional licensing requirements. The commission can enforce the Compact and resolve disputes between member states.
