Massachusetts S2187 prohibits state and municipal contracts for the purchase and installation of artificial turf fields containing zinc, plastic, or intentionally-added perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Existing fields with these materials can be used until they reach the end of their useful life. The bill defines "intentionally-added PFAS" as chemicals added to products or entering them during manufacturing, where the manufacturer knows or should know about the addition.
