Massachusetts S1911 amends existing law to provide a $300,000 one-time payment to the families of public employees killed in the line of duty. This applies to employees of state or county government, public higher education institutions, municipalities, public school departments, public school districts, and public authorities. Additionally, the bill creates a public service scholarship program for the children and widowed spouses of these deceased employees, as well as for children of prisoners of war, military or service persons missing in action, and veterans killed in action.
