Massachusetts S1897 amends retirement compensation for veterans who served in the State Staff.

Massachusetts S1897 amends the retirement compensation calculation for veterans who have also served as members of the State Staff for at least three years. It allows these veterans to receive makeup payments for wages that were characterized as housing or subsistence allowances but were not included in their regular annual compensation contribution. The makeup payments amount to ten percent of the housing or subsistence allowance for each year of creditable service.
