Massachusetts S1862 mandates fair worker representation on joint purchasing group committees.
Massachusetts S1862 amends Chapter 32B of the General Laws to ensure fair worker representation on joint purchasing group committees. The bill requires that when a governmental agency enters into a trust or joint purchase agreement, a board and steering committee must be established. At least 25% of these committee members must be labor representatives elected from a list of nominees provided by collective bargaining units, and one retiree must be appointed by the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts. All members will have voting rights.
