Presuming post-traumatic stress disorder as work-related for certain public safety employees in Massachusetts.
This bill amends the General Laws to presume that post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is work-related for specific public safety employees in Massachusetts if diagnosed within five years of their last active service. Affected employees include members of police departments, fire departments, and other emergency services. The presumption applies unless it is shown that the PTSD resulted from disciplinary actions or other personnel decisions. Benefits for PTSD-related disability or death are to be paid from the date the employee last received regular compensation.
