Presumption of service-related disability or death for certain infectious diseases in first responders.
This bill amends the General Laws to establish a presumption that certain contagious diseases resulting in disability or death for full-time uniformed members of police, fire, or municipal emergency services are service-related. This presumption applies to diseases with a statistically significant correlation to their line of duty, excluding common cold. Eligible individuals must have served within the last five years and passed a physical exam without evidence of the condition.
