Establishes presumption of line-of-duty post-traumatic stress disorder for certain public safety employees in Massachusetts.
This bill amends Chapter 32 of the General Laws to include a presumption of line-of-duty post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for specific public safety employees in Massachusetts. Eligible employees include full-time uniformed members of police, fire, and emergency medical services, as well as certain airport and military personnel. If diagnosed with PTSD by a mental health professional, these employees can apply for benefits related to total or partial disability or death. The presumption does not apply if the PTSD results from disciplinary actions or other personnel decisions.
