Massachusetts S1630 allows municipalities to opt out of fluoridation treatments.
Massachusetts S1630 amends existing law to provide municipalities the option to end fluoridation programs through local ordinances. This bill allows towns, cities, or districts with artificial fluoridation programs to ban fluoridation via their local legislative bodies, such as City Council, Town Meeting, or Water Commissioners. The water superintendent or water commissioners can also suspend fluoridation programs if they believe it poses a risk to consumers, workers, infrastructure, or the environment.
