Massachusetts S161 allows local licensing authorities to issue temporary licenses for charitable alcohol sales and auctions.
Massachusetts S161 amends state law to allow local licensing authorities to issue temporary licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages at auctions and for consumption on the premises to nonprofit charitable corporations. These temporary licenses can be issued for up to 10 consecutive days and are limited to two per calendar year per license holder. Alcoholic beverages sold under these licenses must be donated at no charge to the license holder, and a majority of the proceeds must be used for the charitable purposes of the license holder.
