Massachusetts S1520 protects patients' rights to have a support person at health care facilities.
Massachusetts S1520 amends Section 70E of chapter 111 of the General Laws to ensure patients can have a support person of their choice at health care facilities. This support person can accompany the patient in patient-accessible areas 24 hours a day, except during surgeries or emergency interventions when the facility may temporarily restrict their presence. The bill also ensures that health care facilities cannot require the support person to receive any vaccination as a condition for access to the patient.
