Establishes residency requirements for firefighters in Massachusetts, allowing municipalities to increase limits under certain conditions.
This bill amends the General Laws of Massachusetts to set a fifteen-mile residency limit for firefighters employed by cities or towns, measured from the closest border limits of their employment and residence. It allows municipalities to increase this limit through collective bargaining agreements, in accordance with Chapter 150E. This change applies to firefighters appointed after August 1, 1978, who are not subject to Chapter 31.
